Summertimes offers two distinct types of summer programming: Day Camps and Academic Programs.
Meet the People Who Make Summertimes Special
The Summertimes staff is comprised of energetic and outgoing counselors, junior counselors, instructors, and operations assistants with strong mentoring and leadership skills who love working with children.
Christine Mason
DIRECTOR OF SUMMER PROGRAMS
Christine Mason has been at SSSAS since 2018. Christine was born in the Washington, D.C. area (a rare native), and graduated with a B.A. from Rice University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Christine loves using her perspective as a mother, SSSAS parent, and DC native to improve and grow the Summertimes program. Outside of Summertimes, Christine loves traveling, skiing with her husband and two children, and playing with/cleaning up after her three dogs, Gemma, Murphy, and Elle Woods.
Keith Swadlo
AUXILIARY PROGRAMS ASSISTANT/DAY CAMP DIRECTOR
Keith Swadlo has been at SSSAS in various capacities since 2018. A stir-crazy child of Air Force parents, Keith criss-crossed the bulk of America before settling in the DMV. He is currently working towards his B.A. in History while juggling his roles at SSSAS. Keith enjoys the multiple facets of planning the season for Summertimes and the non-stop pace of running Day Camp. When he’s not wrangling counselors and campers alike, Keith enjoys reading, increasing his collection of Chuck Taylors, and being ignored by his two cats, Simon and Iris.
Joe Wenger
DIRECTOR OF SUMMER ACADEMICS
Joe Wenger has taught English in the Upper School at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School for 14 years. In that time he has taught a variety of literature and interdisciplinary courses, including American Literature and Film Studies, and served as the Department Chair for 10 years. He is the proud father of three children, including two current Saints. Joe has worked with Summer Programs for 12 years, helping run the academic courses and teaching the Composition Skills course. In his free time, he enjoys reading, music, and soccer, even though “free time” is hard to come by with three young children.
