Meet the People Who Make Summertimes Special
The Summertimes staff is comprised of energetic and outgoing counselors, junior counselors, instructors, and operations assistants with strong mentoring and leadership skills who love working with children.
Christine Mason
DIRECTOR OF AUXILIARY PROGRAMS
Christine Mason has been at SSSAS since 2018. Christine was born in Washington, D.C. (a rare native), and graduated with a B.A. from Rice University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. Christine loves using her perspective as a mother, SSSAS parent, and DC native to improve and grow the Summertimes program. Outside of Summertimes, Christine loves traveling with her kids and husband, concerts, cheering for the Caps and the Commanders, and cuddling with her two dogs, Murphy and Elle Woods.
Keith Swadlo
DIRECTOR OF SUMMER PROGRAMS
Keith Swadlo has been at SSSAS in various capacities since 2018. A stir-crazy child of Air Force parents, Keith criss-crossed the bulk of America before settling in the DMV. Keith enjoys the multiple facets of planning the season for Summertimes and the non-stop pace of running Summertimes. When he’s not wrangling counselors and campers alike, Keith enjoys reading, increasing his collection of Chuck Taylors, and being ignored by his two cats, Simon and Iris.
Brett Kelley
AUXILIARY PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
Brett Kelley worked multiple summers with Summertimes as an Operations Assistant, and he joined SSSAS on a permanent basis in 2023. Brett is a local, having graduated from Bishop Ireton and Marymount University (B.A., History), where he played baseball. He recently completed his Master’s in Applied History from George Mason University. Brett is a jack-of-all-trades: coaching baseball, serving as the Summertimes grill master, and overseeing the day-to-day logistics of camp. In his free time, Brett loves to be outdoors, coaching baseball, and going to concerts.
