  • Counselor-In-Training (CIT) for Day Camp

    Ages 12-15
    9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    June 26-30
    Lower School Campus
    $395

Feeling too old for summer camp, but not old enough to work? Under the direction of Saints alumna, Summer Programs veteran and Kindergarten teacher Eleanor Shaw (returning for her fourth year), campers will learn what it takes to be a camp counselor. This interactive Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is a full-day course.

Are you ready to learn to take on a leadership role with team-building activities? As a CIT, you will learn the skills it takes to work with children in a camp setting, and then use those skills in actual camp classes. In addition, you will spend time writing cover letters, resumes, and participating in mock interviews. Campers are counseled on how to apply to a variety of programs. First Aid and CPR certifications are included in the program and look great on a resume! The content will be differentiated so that returning campers build on their skills from previous years.  Contact the Summer Programs Office with any questions you may have at ewshaw87@gmail.com or 703-624-4762.

At SummerTimes Day Camp we understand the importance of play. We are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment where the campers can explore new opportunities, make new friends, and create memories to last a lifetime. The Lower School’s 16 acre campus provides plenty of indoor and outdoor space for wonderful summer experiences. For rising kindergarteners through rising sixth graders, Day Camp offers a wide range of enriching activities each day, including arts and crafts, music and drama, science and technology, sports, and daily swimming. Campers are grouped by age into “home bases” according to grade level and assigned to a caring counselor who rotates with the group through the daily activities. The counselors will not only supervise activities, but act as role models as the campers are encouraged to act in a kind and responsible manner.  We believe that each camper is important and unique, and we strive to encourage these individual strengths each day.

    • Campers must bring their lunch every day.
    • Each camper is provided a fabulous Day Camp T-shirt.
    • Campers utilize the Lower School’s excellent facilities including music rooms, art studios, computer and science labs, and the tinkering space.
    • Each week of camp has a designated theme. Special events and field trips are designed around the theme.
    • Off-campus transportation is provided by school buses operated by our own team of professional SSSAS Transportation Department drivers.
We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter to this very special group of SummerTimes Day Campers!

Under the direction of Saints Kindergarten Teacher Leslie Williams, this engaging half-day camp option for our youngest campers emphasizes fun and friendships and is staffed by responsible and experienced adults who have been trained and prepared for this summer’s fun! Each child enjoys a small, self-contained class with art activities, building, puzzles, stories, and singing. The groups have outdoor playground time, as well as water play.

To provide the best possible experience for every child, Junior Day campers must be three years old and toilet trained before the start of camp. Please apply sunscreen each morning and bring a daily snack and suit/towel for water play. Space is limited, so sign up early!
Contact Ms. Williams with your questions concerning this camp at lwilliams@sssas.org or by telephone at 703-212-2861.

Please note: There is no Morning Care or Extended Day for Junior Day Camp.
