Explore drawing and painting

This course for high school students is a comprehensive introduction to foundational drawing and painting techniques. Projects are designed to aid in the acquisition and development of basic observational skills. Students explore the basic elements of mark-making, line, surface, value, and composition through various media: charcoal, watercolor, collage, and oil-painting methods. Ultimately, students will come away with new vocabulary and several pieces for their developing portfolios. All materials will be provided.

This class is taught by SSSAS faculty members Mrs. Kate Elkins and Mr. Tom Bunnell. Please contact Mrs. Elkins at kelkins@sssas.org, or Mr. Bunnell at tbunnell@sssas.org with any questions related to this class. This course provides one semester credit toward graduation requirements.

*Please note: This is a one-week, full-day course.*
