Get Fit and Healthy With CrossFit and Nutrition
A fitness-based course, CrossFit and Nutrition will implement functional movement training into a fun and powerful class to help athletes stay in shape over summer. We will meet 3 times per week for 2 consecutive weeks for 2 hours in the morning or evening. After our workouts, we will discuss a nutrition topic of the day relating to athletic performance such as: hydration, fueling for athletes, post-workout meals, and eating for muscle gain, and recovery.
We will work to safely implement various equipment to help build strength, speed, and aerobic capacity. The beginning of each session will involve some speed or agility, and plyometric work, then move into building power (i.e. cleans, weighted jumps, snatches), then into a strength session with a main lift (i.e. squat, bench , deadlift), leading into accessory work and aerobic capacity work to finish the training session.
Upon course completion, SSSAS students will earn one season of P.E. credit.
This course is taught by SSSAS Coach Vicky Galasso, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, CrossFit level one trainer, and USA Weightlifting level 2 coach. Using experience in college athletics and the CrossFit competitive environment to safely and effectively train athletes.
