Foster a Love of Reading by Connecting with Book Characters!
Children love reading picture books. As children connect with authors and befriend characters, they begin to develop and deepen understanding, expand perspectives, foster empathy, and cultivate community. Through this exploration, children will make text-to-self connections with characters through their names, physical attributes, thoughts, feelings and emotions, actions, statements, and likes and dislikes. Children will also learn about author and illustrator craft and participate in hands-on activities related to books including arts and crafts, puppet making, readers theater, and more!
