Improve Your Camper’s Reading Skills!
Reader’s Boost is designed for early readers who want to put their best foot forward! Phonological Awareness is made up of the skills to segment, blend, or manipulate speech sounds. It is one of the foundational skills for reading success. In this program, campers will engage in play-based and/or multi-sensory activities like jumping through hoola hoops or building with clay to strengthen their phonological awareness skills and gain reading confidence. Many of the daily activities will be conducted outside. Expect to rhyme, sing, and have fun!
The focus of each week is as follows:
Week of July 8 – 12: Syllables
Week of July 15 – 19: Ch, Sh, Wh, Th and Ph
Week of July 22 – 26: Vowel Teams, Magic E and Rhyming
Week of July 29 – August 2: Blends and Isolating with Blends
