Have Fun Learning Spanish and Exploring Spanish Culture!

iHola! Do you want to learn or expand your Spanish vocabulary while exploring the Spanish-speaking world? Under the direction of Upper School Language Faculty Kim Scott, campers will begin to build useful, everyday vocabulary while developing basic listening, reading, writing, and conversational skills. After an initial exploration of Spain and its capital city, Madrid, campers will then “travel” through the Spanish-speaking world and its many unique and colorful countries (Mexico, Panama and Argentina) to discover the rich diversity and spirit of their people and cultures. Spanish cooking, crafts, music, dance, games, and stories are incorporated into a kaleidoscope of daily activities that celebrate Spanish and Latino culture, along with a special excursion to a local panaderia, a Latino-style bakery. During the week, campers will create artifacts and journal entries that detail their experiences. Everyone knows that early childhood exposure can have a dramatic impact on later language acquisition. Come and join us this summer for a fun and exciting Spanish language and cultural adventure. Please note that no prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary!

Spanish Camp is led by current SSSAS Upper School Language Faculty, Mrs. Kimberly Scott. If you have any camp-specific questions please contact camp director, Kim Scott at kscott@sssas.org, or by telephone at 703-212-2915.
