Get hip to jazz, you cool cats!
Objective: To increase jazz technique, jazz awareness and jazz performance ability through the study of proper jazz pedagogy, and the historical aspects of traditional jazz, its artists and its influence on music worldwide. Workshop focus: Development of jazz technique through the study of major and minor scales, and major and minor scale technique patterns. The group will focus on functional jazz harmony through the study of ii-V-I progressions and various ii-V-I jazz patterns. In addition to reading jazz, students will be exposed to recordings of some of the most influential jazz artists of all time. Students will be introduced to solo transcriptions, and how to get the most out of listening to jazz.
