Specialty Camps

Artistry of Books

Rising Grades 6 - 12
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Session A: August 3 - 7: Alternative Bookmaking Techniques
Session B: August 10 - 14: Traditional Techniques
Upper School Campus

Explore the artistry of books!  This camp offers campers the opportunity to develop skills in the book arts. Our goal is to bring out our creative selves as we create books and tell stories through small and large-scale projects throughout the week. Your camper should wear clothes they can paint in each day, we get messy! Each week will have a field trip into DC and water games. Each day, we will design paper, tell stories, and learn bookbinding techniques. Session A will focus on experimental, non-sewn bookbindings, and Session B will focus on sewing books and more traditional bindings.
Artistry of Books Camp is led by SSSAS School Archivist and Upper School Librarian, Rachel Payne. Please contact Ms. Payne with any questions at rpayne@sssas.org
