Self-Defense Camp

Rising Grades 4-8
9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
July 8-12
Lower School Campus

Self-Defense Camp is a half-day program that teaches campers unarmed fighting techniques to defend themselves. The goal is not only to equip students with skills they can use to escape emergency situations, but this active workshop also improves balance and coordination, builds confidence, and teaches important values such as perseverance and hard work. Campers will learn several different striking techniques along with a few locks and holds. They will practice these techniques in simulated scenarios with the instructor and campers wearing padded gear. Please note that when strikes are practiced, campers will never strike each other, they will only strike the instructor.

Self-Defense Camp is led by Mr. Matt Gehlhoff, a current SSSAS faculty member. Please contact Mr. Matt Gehlhoff at mgehlhoff@sssas.org with any camp questions.
