Master the Skills to Be an Awesome Counselor

Feeling too old for summer camp, but not old enough or not enough experience to work as a counselor? In the Summertimes CIT Program, students will learn what it takes to be a camp counselor! This interactive CIT program is a full-day program.

Are you ready to learn to take on a leadership role with team-building activities? As a CIT, you will learn the skills it takes to work with children in a camp setting, and then use those skills in actual camp classes. During Training Week (June 10-14), which is required for all CIT participants, students will receive First Aid and CPR certifications, which are critical when applying to be a camp counselor.

Subsequent optional on-the-job sessions will explore different themed training each week, focusing on counselor-relevant topics such as bullying and diversity. During these additional weeks, CIT participants will be matched up with a group of counselors and campers from the Summertimes Day Camp in order to give CIT students the opportunity to put their training to work! Participants in the Summertimes CIT program will be given special consideration when they apply to work as a counselor for Summertimes in the future.

*Please note that there will be no camp on Wednesday, June 19th in observation of the Juneteenth federal holiday, and Thursday, July 4th – Friday, July 5th in observation of the Independence Day federal holiday.

The first week of the CIT program is required to participate in the subsequent on-the-job training weeks. CIT Training (Week 1, June 10-14) will be on the Middle School campus; On-the-Job sessions will be on the Lower School campus.
