Math is Everywhere – Even in the Kitchen!

In this two-part camp, campers will strengthen their math skills, and then apply those math skills in the kitchen! In the mornings, campers will play fun and engaging math games that strengthen students’ number recognition, fluency, and form while having fun. We will use non-standard measurement to measure things around the classroom and outside, explore 2D shapes, and make numbers out of nature, recognizing that numbers are all around us!

In the afternoon portion of the camp, we will put our math skills to use! Our campers will transform into culinary artists as they dive into the world of cooking. From measuring ingredients to mixing, stirring, and decorating, our little chefs will explore the magic of the kitchen and see that math is everywhere. Each day will feature a delicious and kid-friendly recipe, which our young chefs can either eat or take home to share.

*Your camper must be 5 years of age at the time of the camp session in order to attend this camp.*

Mathematicians in the Kitchen is directed by SSSAS Kindergarten teacher Ms. Sarah Olderman. If you have any questions about the camp, please reach out to Ms. Olderman at solderman@sssas.org.
